Understanding and resolving your tires TPMS Light
Why is my TPMS light on?
The TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) light turns on when something's wrong with your tire pressure. There are a few reasons why it happens. The main one is low tire pressure, which can be because air is leaking slowly or when the weather changes. Another reason is when the batteries inside the sensor stop working. Usually, these batteries last about 8 to 12 years. If the sensor's battery dies, you must get a new sensor because the battery is part of the sensor.
The last, and less common, reason is either the sensor itself or the whole monitoring system not working right. When the TPMS light comes on, it's important to check your tire pressure. Look in the owner's manual or on the door jamb for the right air pressure. After checking the air pressure it's a good idea to come by and see us here at Auto Tech in Martinsville Va. Our mechanics we'll use the latest technology to help pinpoint and fix the problem.
